Cloud Engineer

Location: Austin, Texas -or- San Diego, California

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to join our team. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of our cloud infrastructure and related systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our cloud-based systems are secure, scalable, and reliable. We are looking for someone with a passion for technology and who enjoys solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure, efficient, and reliable cloud infrastructure using industry best practices.

• Implement and manage cloud environments in accordance with company guidelines, policies, and practices.

• Collaborate with software, automation, cloud engineers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth deployment and operation of the GPUaaS infrastructure and customer facing systems.

• Monitor infrastructure and applications, proactively identify issues, and implement appropriate solutions.

• Automate and streamline operations and processes to improve efficiency and reliability.

• Conduct regular security assessments and implement security best practices.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in test and production environments.

• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to cloud computing.

• Ability to interact and work with customers to resolve complex issues and introduce new capabilities and technology.

• Other appropriate duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Proven experience as a Cloud, HPC, Automation Engineer or similar role in designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure including GPU Compute, HPC, High-speed networking as well as erasure code and nfs storage.

• Strong understanding of cloud networking principles (VPN, DNS, firewalls, ssh tunneling, IP/ports/NAT, etc.).

• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Slurm, Kubernetes, SUNK/Slinky, Ray).

• Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, etc.).

• Advanced understanding of linux and unix operating systems.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in cloud technologies or relevant areas.

• Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and bare metal deployments.

• Experience with and ability to configure and maintain network switches (Arista, SONiC, Cisco).

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.

• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).

• Experience with databases and data management in cloud environments.

• Experience with basic Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/email).

The base salary range for the Cloud Engineer position is $101,150 to $193,125. This pay range reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay range for this job for the location and for multiple job levels for which it has been posted. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
