Great innovators never stop asking questions. Curiosity drives them to question assumptions and challenge conventional wisdom. And, they have learned how to ask questions that are original, bold, counterintuitive, and perceptive.
For us it was a simple question, "What if we mount our blades vertically, and pull cold air from the bottom of the rack?”
From that moment on, our engineers were free to create the many innovations that comprise Cirrascale Vertical Cooling Technology which solves so many data center problems:
- Eliminates hot and cold aisles in the data center.
We save data center operators the cost, time, and planning difficulties required to isolate hot and cold air while doing away with hotspots where standard equipment cannot be deployed. - Reduces power consumption and overall data center PUE.
We combine the most efficient cooling design with 3-phase power input to reduce power consumption at the rack. We also reduce the load on the data center’s CRAC and HVAC equipment, decreasing data center PUE by 35% or more. - Provides the highest density in the industry.
We increase compute and storage density, providing as much as 80U in a standard 42U rack footprint, reducing the space and cost necessary to deploy equipment in expensive facilities. - Increases product reliability.
By incorporating highly efficient fans that draw less power and keep components cooler, we increase the MTBF and reliability of our products. - Removes the need for small fans and eliminates airflow obstructions from I/O cabling.
With Vertical Cooling, I/O is in the opposite axis to the air flow, which passes through large slots at the bottom and top of each blade. - Eliminates small fans that draw excess power and can cause reliability problems.
Small fans are inefficient for cooling, and they can draw 12% or more of the power required by a rackmount system. Fans are also shown to cause system failures when they fail. - Increases our flexibility to quickly develop and deploy appliance solutions that meet specific customer requirements.
We can integrate the latest technologies using cost-effective COTS components to deliver appliances that meet customer-specific requirements for performance, throughput, capacity, power, reliability, and cost faster than any other manufacturer in the industry. - Reduces installation time and cost in deploying rack-based appliance solutions.
By integrating, testing, and shipping our server and storage systems as appliance solutions, customers can typically have them up and running in the data center within hours of receipt, not days or weeks. - Best of all, we accomplish all these benefits in a standard footprint with no special construction required.
Our BladeRack solutions fit in a standard 24” x 48” (1 Tile x 2 Tile) footprint; they can be placed on raised or concrete flooring and in hot or cold aisles; and we can provide skirts and hoods to direct air intake and exhaust to meet any data center requirement.
