Modular Blade Chassis Platform Overview

Cirrascale's next generation Modular Blade Chassis (MBC) platform is an innovative adaptation of the BladeRack 2 Series that provides customers with the same level of reliability and flexibility that's delivered in the company's BladeRack 2 XL or BladeRack 2 XM platforms with a slightly lower density.

The MBC platform is a 9 blade rackmount module that utilizes Cirrascale's patented Vertical Cooling Technology™ found in all of the BladeRack 2 Series platforms. This allows the MBC to use open-architectured blades with the fastest processors available on the market, all without the performance loss common in blade servers from other vendors due to CPU throttling. Our innovative Vertical Cooling Technology has proven to save money by reducing energy expenditures and ensuring reliability, enabling data centers to use their power for compute instead of cooling.

The 9 blade MBC can be deployed as a single rackmount module supporting 9VU in either 13 or 17 continuous RU space depending on the selected model*. The MBC has the ability to easily scale and stack to support either three (MBC-XL) or four (MBC-XM) modules per rack. This allows customers to have up to 36 blades in 40 continuous RU each housing the most cutting edge components and processors available making this platform attractive for small to medium scale-out grid and web serving environments. Like all Cirrascale products, the Modular Blade Chassis is able to be tailored to meet the need of the individual client and can be configured with a focus on compute, storage, high-performance PCoIP workstations or GPGPU needs.

The Modular Blade Chassis platform utilizes an ultra-efficient 208-240VAC 20A power solution for each module, helping to drastically reduce your organization's energy expenditure. This innovative power solution also generates substantially less heat than those found in competing solutions, saving additional cooling resources. The combination of flexibility, scalability and efficiency drive the total cost of ownership of the MBC far below that of competing solutions while gaining an increase in performance and reliability. Industry re-defining solutions, such as the Cirrascale Modular Blade Chassis platform, is how Cirrascale makes good on our promise to deliver Blades Without Boundaries®.

* The MBC unit heights are 9U and 13U respectively. The 13U and 17U measurements are derived from adding the required 2U air baffles to the units. One set of air baffles are used per rack regardless of the number of units.
